Occasional Randomness #55 - The Punisher: One Last Kill

On this "special presentation" of Occasioanl Randomess, Eric and Jason discuss the Disney+ Special Presentation of The Punisher: One Last Kill.  Or, as Jason put it, "How the Punisher Got His Groove Back."  What do you do when your vengeance, when your reason for going on, is over? That's what this John Bernthal written special addresses.  What does Frank Castle do now that everyone invovled in his familys' brutal murder is dead? Before he can answer that question though, he finds out that's not quite the case.  And then we have 15 minutes of the Punisher doing what he does best.  And then we try to figure out where this fits in the timeline and how it prepares us for Frank's appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
Next time on the podcast, we finally get back to Farscape and start wrapping the whole series up with the first part of The Peacekeeper Wars mini-series.

Occasional Randomness #54 - Daredevil: Born Again S2E7-8

We wrap up season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again (episodes 7 and 8). Matt and Fisk have their final (?) confrontations, both as lawyer Matt who has shown up to defend Karen at her vigilante trial, and later as Daredevil. A main character these last 2 seasons has their shocking exit from the series. Heather's decent into becoming the next Muse continues. Bullseye gets to fulfill his desire to balance the scales and gets a new boss and a new job. And a few more cameos from the old Netflix Marvel shows pop up at the end, much to our delight. Paving the way for a Defenders reunion, hopefully, in season 3!

Occasional Randomness #53 - Daredevil: Born Again S2E4-6

Things are heating up in New York as we move into the middle third of the second season of Daredevil: Born Again (episodes 4 - 6).  We finally find out what Bullseye's endgame is, and it comes with a steep price to pay for several of our main characters.  Matt and Karen are at odds over how to handle Fisk once and for all.  We have reappearnces of some of the characters from the old Netflix series, especially the long awaited appearance by a certain super-strong private investigator.  Yes, Jessica Jones finally shows up to work with Daredevil -- and we have lots of questions (and some answers) as to what it seems she's been up to since we last saw her. And if that wasn't enough, Daredevil and Fisk finally square off with each other!

Occasional Randomness #52 - Daredevil: Born Again S2E1-3

We're back in Hell's Kitchen, well more accurately New York City, as we start our discussion of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episodes 1 - 3.  Spoiler Alert: We are loving it so far.  Which really isn't a spoiler if you've listened to us before.  We absolutely love both the Netflix and Disney Daredevil seasons.  Season 2 jumps right back into the thick of things, with the resistance to Mayor Kingpin, and keeps you glued to each scene. And we finally have a comics accurate MCU TV costume for ol' horn-head. It's a game of cat-and-mouse as DD and team try to expose Fisk's operations while trying to stay out of the clutches of the AVTF.

Occasional Randomness #51 - We Hate Cliffhangers (Farscape S4E22: Bad Timing)

To quote another famous science fiction ending - "This is the end, but the moment has been prepared for."
Eric and Jason discuss the series finale of Farscape - Season 4: Bad Timing. Having seen this when it originally aired, Eric has been waiting five years - since the start of this podcast - to see how Jason would react to that ending... and yeah, it was worth the wait.
While we eventually got the closure we deserved 18 months later with The Peacekeeper Wars, the original 2003 cliffhanger left fans reeling for a long time. We wrap up this episode by discussing our Best and Worst episodes of Season 4.
NOTE: We are taking a brief break from the Uncharted Territories! Next time, we're heading to New York City for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Stay tuned - we'll be back for the Peacekeeper Wars soon!

Occasional Randomness #50 - Stop and Smell the Crystherium (Farscape S4E21: La Bomba)

John drops a bomb on some Scarrans, while Sikozu is the bomb for others. Our final multipart story of the Farscape regular series wraps up with Season 4, Episode 21: "We're So Screwed, Part 3: La Bomba." We finally get answers to our questions from last week, but with only one episode left in the regular series (not counting The Peacekeeper Wars), the clock is ticking. We break down Grayza’s ultimate meltdown as her ambitions crumble, Sikozu’s "fiery" reveal, and that ending where everyone gets some quality time... except, unfortunately, for John and Aeryn. One more to go... awwww... :(

Occasional Randomness #49 - Secret Agents Everywhere (Farscape S4E20)

Our final multipart story of the Farscape regular series jumps into high gear with Season 4, episode 20, We're So Screwed, Part 2: Hot to Katratzi. This one has tons of plot twists, character twists and a nice gun battle at the end. And we have a surprise guest star -- Stark. And he's quite happy to help torture Scorpius for the Scarrans. Crichton crashes the Scarran/Peacekeeper "peace" conference and offers wormhole tech to the highest bidder. Let the scheming and backstabbing commence!

Occasional Randomness #48 - The One Where Rygel Becomes Patient Zero (Farscape S4E19)

It's our final multipart story of the Farscape series (not counting the Peacekeeper Wars mini-series).  Season 4, episode 19, We're So Screwed, Part 1: Fetal Attraction. And as always, Farscape delivers a great start to their multiparter.  One filled with action, humor, crew drama and surprise plot twists galore! And a reunion between John Crichton and a new and improved "old friend"... 2.0.  Surprisingly their plans go pretty well this time around, with a few impromptu changes which cost a few lives of those around them, much to Noranti's dismay.  They do rescue Aeryn but Scorpius is captured by the Scarrans.  Oh well, they don't need him, they can just leave and not try to rescue Scorpy... or can they?

Occasional Randomness #47 - Frell You Jobu, I Do It Myself (Farscape S4E18)

We pick up right where the last episode of Farscape ended, with season 4, episode 18, Prayer. Where we learn all about what Aeryn's been going through since she was captured; and John and Scorpius go for a ride... back to that "Bizarro" Moya mashup from several episodes ago.  Usually Jason and Eric are on the same page with episodes, but this time Jason liked it more. Eric didn't connect with the majority of the supporting characters and didn't think most of the plotlines worked for him. Although they did both think Aeryn's crisis of faith reminded them of Pedro Cerrano from the movie Major League. But even when Farscape has an "average" episode, there are still some good things to take away from it and good things to look forward to as the final season wraps up.

So your girlfriend and mother of your unborn child has been captured by your enemies, what are you going to do about it?  In John Crichton's case, go watch some TV show with clips of your return to Earth and what various panelists think of your alien companions. This time around, we discuss Farscape season 4, episode 17, A Constellation of Doubt. And in between parts of the show, Crichton tries to remember where he heard about the secret Scarran base, Katratzi, where Aeryn is being held.  And he makes a startling offer to our old buddy Scorpius.
